Big fucking deal

The cover article in this week’s Georgia Straight is about this film. The review says it’s mostly about 4 couples and one threesome and their relationships. Young people fucking was mentioned a lot earlier this year because of it’s title, and because of the controversy around Bill C-10. Bill C-10 is a long, omnibus Bill of technical changes to tax laws that also included a provision that would allow the Heritage Minister to withhold tax credits if a production was considered ‘contrary to public policy’.

YPF was sucked into the eye of the Bill C-10 controversy (see this issue’s cover feature for more information). Christian activists, without actually seeing the movie, nailed it as the type of movie that shouldnà ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã¢”ž ¢t receive tax credits.

Yet like any storm, ità ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã¢”ž ¢s far calmer at the centre. à ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã…”Weà ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã¢”ž ¢re a perfect target because no oneà ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã¢”ž ¢s seen the film,à ¢Ã¢”š ¬ Gero says. à ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã…”Once ità ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã¢”ž ¢s out there, ità ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã¢”ž ¢s not that controversial. But in a way thatà ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã¢”ž ¢s good, because when the movie does come, peopleà ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã¢”ž ¢ll be like, à ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã‹Å“This is what the big deal is about? Gimme a break!à ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã¢”ž ¢ Certainly ità ¢Ã¢”š ¬Ã¢”ž ¢s been very, very good for the movie.à ¢Ã¢”š ¬

Young people fucking is showing at many cinemas in the Lower Mainland and Victoria.
